FAQ - City Psychology Center

Frequently Asked questions

You will spend time speaking to one of our two directors, who will speak to you about what you are experiencing and what you may be looking for in a therapist. Some patients come in with an idea of what this is, others, especially those who are new to therapy, do not know. Working together, one of our directors will be able to help create a good match for you based on your therapy goals, symptoms and age preferences.
Unlike other practices, all of our therapists are doctoral level clinicians, meaning that they have extensive experience, training, and expertise in the field. We choose clinicians based on their background and training, but also those that share our approach to the highest level of care for our patients and commitment to using evidence-based practices.
City Psychology Center (CPC) is committed to providing evidence-based interventions. This means therapy that is backed by research in the field. While our clinicians are trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, depending on your therapy goals and symptoms clinicians may also be using other evidence based interventions including: Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
We are committed to providing evidence-based therapy to clients at an affordable price. Unlike most group practices, we try to use a client’s insurance plan whenever possible. We accept all out of network plans, and a couple of in-network ones, and will submit and handle insurance claims directly. For those clients that do not have insurance benefits as an option, we will do our best to provide therapy at an affordable price. Many patients also use their Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for their sessions. It is also possible for a client to purchase a therapy “bundle” for specific crisis intervention needs. This means purchasing a few therapy sessions, rather than seeing a therapist on a weekly basis, for very specific issues going on. Please contact us directly for an exact breakdown of session cost.
City Psychology Center (CPC) understands the risks associated with seeing clinicians in person. For this reason, all of our therapists are offering sessions via telehealth using a secure and HIPPA compliant platform. However, we also recognize the benefits and preference for in-person sessions for many individuals, and for that reason have continued to provide in-person care as an option. We are committed to providing safe care. All of our therapists are vaccinated and use safe social distancing measures if therapy is given in the office.
If medication is warranted, our clinicians will be able to guide you with a referral to a psychiatrist. City Psychology Center (CPC) works closely and collaboratively with any provider involved in your care. Your psychiatrist will do a thorough assessment and intake and make recommendations based on your individual needs.
